in that deck of vice president biden with a gaffe about the middle class being crushed. mitt romney through that word back at president obama who of course was irritated. now he just sort of rabid in and he had a great, possibly even had lived where you said the president, i've been in business 25 years and i have never heard that one. >> i've got to go but one point i would make, the pressure is really on to people which is biden and ryan because they are the next debate before received these again and particularly paul ryan. there is going to be great pressure to make him do as well as the nominee. >> now people are thinking whoa these people could get the job. ryan has's select -- >> joining us is rachel. harrison is taking off. >> was a something i said? >> no, no he is not offended at all. you spend a lot of time thinking about press and obama both in the presidential context and certainly as a candidate. i would say the precedence defense, it would be like me debating you and you spending three months every night studying for it and winging it. you would crush me. you would crush me h

from now. >> and this sets up the vice presidential debate. paul ryan and joe biden. >> that is going to be -- >> people love to say these vice presidential debates don't matter. go back to 2004, they do matter. >> i think this one does. >> and they matter because george w. bush had a very bad first debate. but you know what? dick cheney, sitting down, stemmed that tide and actually gave republicans a reason -- everybody was painting dick cheney as darth vader, as they always do. he sat down and he just absolutely demolished john edwards. it looked like there was an adult and there was a child in the room. and it actually gave the bush campaign new life. >> i think paul ryan represents, i mean, really specific ideas. >> right. >> you know? it's going to be -- >> i think it's -- and i think it's going to be great. you know, the pressure, actually, i would have never believed i would have said this 24 hours ago. it's going to be on joe biden because they can't have two bad debate performances in a row. then suddenly a one-night story becomes a narrative. right. >> it's a different ball

barack obama and joe biden and joe biden day to save endangered medicare. they stole money from medicare and they've done it to get obamacare. you see the ads and everything they say. nothing could be further from the truth. >> next, a pentagon briefing on a recent announcement that the u.s. military has provided logistical and security support to an fbi investigative team visiting the site of the u.s. consulate attacks in libya. here's a portion portion of that now. >> before taking your questions, one additional update on dod support for the on going investigation of the attack on our consulate in benghazi, libya. at the request of the fbi, the department provide logistic and security support to the investigation teams in order to conduct work on site in benghazi. dod personnel created that support earlier today along with the investigation team. the activities of the investigation team and support provided by dod were fully according with the state department in the libyan government. with that, i will take your questions. >> can you tell us more about the support team quite horrific,

gore or joe biden have charitable contributions of $350 per year. i would not think you could argue that mitt romney has gotten p too muchuffy press. i think his interview on "six"the minutes was pretty good. they ask what your idea of leadership was in that as a nice generic question. i need spirit -- i think there needs to be substantive questions as well. host: i want to make sure that the folks see this a -- in "the washington post" last wemple reported thisric -- guest: there is a danger in a candidate talking about the media bias. the media of will turn around and say you are losing. this is a lot of what we have seen in the last couple of weeks. there was an associated press report that said romney is struggling to exert his influence in the poll. you don't want to get across the idea of losing but this is what happens. the media runs with a poll they are taking and they treat the race like it is over. we are in september. that's what i don't like. people should let this election process conclude before they say is so host: over. next up is silver spring, maryland, go ahead.

president joe biden has been here seven times in the past year, every week they've had dozens of staff on the ground in new hampshire for obama for months and months, got a real head start on canvassing, phone calling and motivating that democratic base that had been sagging a year ago. that is almost up to the same level of intensity of republican support for mitt romney and that's what makes this race so close and i think it will stay close all the way to november 6th. gregg: kevin, great to see you, thanks so much for your incites. jenna: you talk about the ground game and voter turn out, what about absentee ballots, what about legislate the troops vote while serving overseas. we'll tell you next what the pentagon is doing to increase voter participation by our military men and women, that is ahead. plus a rare spider. looks creepy. gregg: albino spied jeer that spider was discovered a long a highway and because it was discovered construction on a highway project worth millions of dollars was stopped. we'll tell you why next. . it is my understanding, for example that in 2008, the one vice presidential debate between biden and pailin drew more interest than other debates. i guess because people were wondering what kailyn was going to do. and i mentioned the one in 1998 between bentsen and quayle. there are other cases of dramatic moments as well. we should definitely pay attention to the vice- presidential debate as well. host: robert in queens, new york. republican line, good morning. caller: if the mainstream media were to cover this in a normal fashion like they should, do you think people would pay attention? there are a lot of people but do not know this exists. there were only 45 seconds of the transcript from what i understand. i just like to know how you feel the election would be assuming the mainstream media were to cover things like this. it is definitely not on any front page of any paper today and i believe it is front-page news. host: and just for some context talking about this obama video, it says it was billed as a bombshell. guest: some republicans might say this is the from the answer to the 47%
